More Visibility = More Power
S2415
New Jersey is one of the most diverse states in the nation. Yet many communities of Color see our priorities and needs rendered invisible.
We receive fewer resources, fewer investments, and fewer tailored programs and services.
This is partly because the broad and diverse identities we hold are either lumped into single racial category or the "white" racial category. Without accurate data on the communities that live here, the individual issues we care about get swept away.
Accurate representation is a social and racial justice issue, which is why NJAIJ supports Data Disaggregation Bill S2415. Will you also support this bill and make sure our communities are visible and heard?
UPDATE!! The Data Disaggregation Bill has already passed the Assembly! Now we need full pressure on the Senate to pass the bill and send it to the Governor's desk to become law!
Your representatives need to hear from you. Join us in sending a clear message: we will not be erased.
New Jersey is more diverse than we've ever been. The diverse growth of our population is not a "trend" -- our communities are here to stay and without accurate data, we have to fight harder for the services we deserve.
Our priorities are getting erased. MENA and AAPI communities are either lumped into a single racial category or under the "white" category. Without data disaggregation, these communities are effectively rendered invisible.
We can't wait any longer. Other states with similar populations already disaggregate their data for diverse racial groups so they can better direct resources and investments in times of crisis. The racial disparities of the past two years of the pandemic have taught us that lack of information costs the State money, wasted resources, and even our lives!
This bill has already passed the Assembly. New Jersey is counting on the Senate to take action and grant much-needed visibility to our communities!
There are no officials for you to contact on Twitter.
Wow, it looks like the representatives in your district are already on board. That's great!
There are still other ways to support our fight.
